Mechanism for Strong Chimeras

Chimera states have attracted significant attention as symmetry-broken exhibiting the unexpected coexistence of coherence and incoherence. Despite valuable insights gained from analyzing specific systems, an understanding general physical mechanism underlying emergence chimeras is still lacking. Here, we show that many stable arise because in part system sustained by incoherence rest system. This may be regarded a deterministic analog noise-induced synchronization shown to underlie strong chimeras. These are chimera whose coherent domain formed identically synchronized oscillators.
